Gearlog ("we", "our", or "the app") is designed with privacy as a default. We do not collect, store, or share any personal data. All data you enter — vehicles, maintenance records, photos, notes — is stored exclusively on your device and never transmitted to our servers.
We do not collect:
All app data is stored locally on your device using iOS standard storage (NSUserDefaults, app documents folder). This data is included in your iCloud or iTunes device backup if you have those enabled — that is managed entirely by Apple and subject to Apple's privacy policy, not ours.
Gearlog uses RevenueCat to process subscriptions and verify purchase entitlements. When you make a purchase, RevenueCat processes the transaction through Apple's App Store. RevenueCat may collect an anonymous device identifier to verify your subscription status. No personal or financial data passes through Gearlog — all payment processing is handled by Apple.
For details on RevenueCat's data practices, see their Privacy Policy.
When you use the CSV export, PDF export, or backup ZIP features, Gearlog generates a file on your device and presents iOS's native share sheet. You choose where to send that file. We have no access to files you share.
Gearlog uses local notifications (not push notifications) to deliver mileage reminders. These are scheduled on-device and do not involve any external server. No data is transmitted.
Gearlog is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
If we ever change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be noted in the app's update release notes.
